Talisa Lallai – Timbuktu
Starting with her own origins, the question of identity, homeland and identification forms the core of Talisa Lallais' artistic work. To do this, she uses film and photo material ('found footage'), which she - in contrast to current digital techniques - processed with analogue photography. She developed her visual language of an ›exotic South‹ from motifs from a western European perspective, in which sophisticated, modernist belief in progress and inhuman colonialism are equally intertwined. However, as Talisa Lallai herself puts it, in order to describe the ›southern‹ as »utopia and more resistant possibility of another life, of pursuing another world«.
The exhibition is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Art of Baden-Württemberg with funds from the “Project Funding for Art Associations in the Visual Arts” and by the ART-regio art fund.
