Grace Weaver – Pedestrian
Grace Weaver's pictures are a discovery. Figurative painting, totally contemporary, graceful, sexy, thoughtful or amused. Images of Generation Z, that is connected across the globe and ›up-to-date‹, but still feels lost between exuberance and exhaustion. In expansive street scenes and solemn interiors, the young protagonists always seem to be asking: Who could they be or want to be?
For »Pedestrian«, Grace Weaver has put together drawings and sketches that, with delicate allusions and precise to the point, are reminiscent of Frank O'Hara's »Notes on Second Avenue«. They are notes in the progressive form, in which situational observation of everyday life meets subtle self-reflection: »everything in it either happened to me or I felt happening (saw, imagined)«.
